Fabulous Fall

As most of our BabyBaby customers prepare for summer here at the Pittsburgh office we are preparing for snow. However first we get to enjoy one of my favorite times of year Fall or as us kiwi's call it Autumn.
As I look out my office window I see nothing but brilliant colour of all possible shades of red, brown, gold and green. Each day the leaves on the trees become more and more brilliant in colour. As the neighbourhood prepares for Halloween fairy lights appear on the eves of the houses and large orange pumpkins pop up in gardens. It is a stunning sight.

Just as stunning is our 2B Skin Care Competition with three chances to win.

Charity Auction for Shanade

When we heard about a fundraiser to help little Shanade Tallentire make her dreams come true we couldn't wait to be part of it. This story has touched our hearts and our thoughts are with Shanade and her family.

There is nothing more heart breaking than hearing that a child is sick. Instead of feeling just empathy a community have come together to help make Shanade's dreams come true.

Shanade Tallentire is 7 years old. She has a brain tumor called a diffuse intrinsic glioma. Its growing in the part of the brain that controls the central nervous system. Doctors have given her 6 months to live, and she will more than likely be confined to her bed within the next month.

Shanade's dream was very simple and one many of us take for granted - a trip to Auckland Zoo to see Cheetah Cubs.

Shanade's wish has been granted and money is now being raised to help with costs associated with the trip and to help her family.

An auction has been started on Sella Lots of cool things have been donated for auction from NZ businesses greatly due to the hard work put in by Jess at Exquisite Baby

Many companies have also made donations so friends could decorate Shanade's bedroom. It is heartwarming to see how many people are prepared to make a difference to this family to ensure their days together are memorable.

A facebook Page has been set up in support of Shanade.

Vitamin C can help skin heal, say scientists

Vitamin C can help skin heal, say scientists

Vitamin C can help promote wound healing and DNA repair in the skin, according to scientists who investigated the substance’s effect in human fibroblasts.

The research, published in the journal Free Radical Biology and Medicine, used a full genome wide analysis to look at the effect of vitamin C derivative ascorbic acid 2-phosphate (AA2P) on the genes of human fibroblasts.

In total, nearly 300 hundred genes were affected by the addition of AA2P and the researchers then looked at their role in the body to further define the vitamin’s effect.

According to the study, the addition of the vitamin helps stimulate fibroblasts out of their dormant state so they can help the skin heal as well as affecting the cells’ ability to move to the wounded area.

Stimulating the ability of DNA self repair

In addition, the vitamin also stimulated the ability of the DNA to repair itself after damage, as well as having strong antioxidant properties.

The scientists conclude that although the activation of specific signaling pathways remains to be elucidated, the results show that vitamin C in skin cells is required for efficient wound healing and the repair of potentially mutagenic products of DNA oxidation.

But we already knew this which is why we have Vitamin C in our 2B Skin Care range of products and both our BabyBaby and 2B Sunscreen.

Best replaced at night as UV light destroys Vitamin C hence why we have used it in our 2B Night Cream, healing damage done by exposure to UV light and other environmental dangers throughout the day. Topically Vitamin C should be an essential part of your beauty routine especially so if you have any exposure to UV light throughout the day.

2B Skin Care has taken care of it for you. Found in 2B Daily Facial Moisturiser, 2B Night Cream, 2B Eye Cream, 2B Sunscreen, BabyBaby Sunscreen.

Spring is in the Air...

The sun is trying to come out and with school holidays just around the corner it is time to start thinking sunscreen. Naturally we have two of the most beautiful sunscreen formulations on offer. BabyBaby sunscreen for infants is gentle enough for the newest member of your family as well as for older children. 2B sunscreen is perfect for you and is fantastic to use under or over make up - yes over make up. I press it through my make up so re-applying sunscreen is no longer a problem when you wear foundation and it is not greasy or oily so will not clog your skin.

Here is what some of our wonderful facebook fans had to say about our sunscreen:

This sunscreen is brilliant it's the only one I have used on our two girls, love the fact it has no nasty chemicals in it and we always get comments on the nice smell!!
Have the adult one too!!Rachel

Great sunscreen so good for sensitive skin.. i break out with other products but not, the babybaby sunscreen..love it :)Kyla

The dreaded cradle cap

Cradle cap is a form of seborrhea dermatitis (sebum causing inflammation). Found mainly on the scalp and face. It appears as thick, oily, yellowish or brownish patches usually on the scalp and eye brows. The skin itself appears red, flaky and irritated.

Cradle cap is simply a build up of sweat and oil produced by overactive glands or occasionally an overgrowth of yeast may contribute to the condition.

Treatment of cradle cap:

Brush the scalp with a soft bristle brush to loosen the scales
For mild cradle cap shampoo daily with Cradle Cap Shampoo. The lavender and chamomile will help to regulate the sebum while the manuka honey has a powerful effect on regulating the sebum.
You may also massage in Comforting Massage Oil into the scalp prior to shampoo.

Do not pick cradle cap or scrape off scales unless they are already loose. You do not want to cause infection.

Cradle cap is generally not a serious condition so don't stress over it. Some kids seem more prone to others (I was lucky enough to have four children affected). There are myths and legends in regards to over shampooing and under shampooing children's hair, however it does come down to the individual child. If you need to use the shampoo every day to get on top of cradle cap then do so. If not then don't. If the cradle cap becomes irritating to the child then a yeast infection may have developed and it may be time to head of to the doctor. BabyBaby HQ

No. 21 - where is all happens...

No man nor mother is exempt from the labour of love...

Lynette hard at work.

Oh the labeling how we love thee...

Shelves are premium real estate and product fights for optimum positioning.

Our 'state of the art' contraption fills the inner of our famous Breast Feeding Pillow with polystyrene beans. We hold enough beans in our warehouse to fill 102 pillows - unless one of the BabyBaby kids is at the warehouse and decides to use a bag of beans as a trampoline, trust me these are the hardest things to clean up.

Products are taken from the surrounding shelves to the packing table ready to be boxed and dispatched.

That ends our tour. Have a great day and think of us hard at work :)
