The Best and Worst Places To Be a Mother

Mothers in Norway and Australia are living in the best places in the world, according to Save the Children's 11th annual "Mothers' Index", which ranks the best and worst places to be a mother.

Afghanistan ranked at the bottom of the list of 160 countries, which included 43 developed nations and 117 in the developing world.

Great news for Aussie and Kiwi mums who are among the top 10 best places to be a mother: Norway ranks first, followed by Australia, Iceland, Sweden, Denmark, New Zealand, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. The United States places at 28.

The Index is based on an analysis of indicators of women's and children's health and well-being, and clearly illustrates that providing mothers with access to education, economic opportunities and maternal and child health care gives mothers and their children the best chance to survive and thrive.

Seems its looking pretty good to come from the land down under.

YOU ARE A GREAT MUM!

Being a mum is hard work. We all want to do our best.

Often we’re too busy looking at other mothers we think are doing a great job that we don’t see them looking back at us thinking the same thing. Breastmates would like to bridge this communication gap by launching a free certificate to download and share.

“Something as simple as encouragement about how well your child is doing can mean the world of difference to a mum,” says Breastmates founder Frances McInnes, mum to two boys, as well as being a small business owner.

“I know myself, if someone just comments on what I am doing as a mum, it really makes me feel encouraged. This year my goal is to help mothers feel encouraged and confident in their parenting ability, and in the choices they make.”

If someone passes you one of these certificates, then you’ll know that your mum skills are noticed. By sending one to a mother you know, you will be making a real difference on a day that may otherwise have been quite a challenge!

You can download this certificate from the following link, save to your computer, and then email to your friends along with your own message of encouragement. Download a PDF certificate

New Decor Friendly Feeding Pillow

The BabyBaby Feeding Pillow has been a favorite among mums since its inception eight years ago. Its unique 'U' shape ensures this feeding pillow moulds to baby and you, easily, comfortably and correctly. The larger than most surface size means you can use it to feed your infant longer than smaller feeding supports allow.

It comes in a machine washable, pre-shrunk 100% patterned cotton top with black cotton base, chosen to fit with your living room furnishings.

* Great for breast feeding and establishing correct feeding position for mother and baby.
